CHAPTER 3 : QURBAN

WHAT IS QURBAN WORSHIP?

This worship can be divided into two. That is obligatory sacrifice and circumcision.

Obligatory sacrifice is a vowed sacrifice.

While the sacrifice of circumcision is a muakkad circumcision, a required circumcision.

This worship is the slaughter of livestock to draw closer to Allah Taala on the Hajj Festival and the three Hari Tasyri'.

LEGAL TERMS OF SALE

For your sacrifice to be valid, you need to take into account the animal you want to sacrifice.

ANIMAL AGE REQUIREMENTS TO BE LEGALLY SACRIFICED

•        Camel - aged 5 to 6 years

•        Cattle/buffalo/goat – 2 years to 3 years

•        Bira-biri/kibas - A second entry year or the front teeth have already given birth even though they are not old enough BUT more than 6 months.

ANIMALS THAT CANNOT BE USED FOR QURBAN WORSHIP

Animals with disabilities such as:

•        No ears or cut ears even a little

•        His tail and tongue were cut off

•        An animal that is thin and lacks meat

•        Scabies because the flesh may be damaged

•        Blind, lame

•        Pregnant

Slaughter must be done by Muslims. The people who share the qurban of cows and camels cannot be more than seven people where one person contributes 1/7 share.

BENEFITS OF QURBAN WORSHIP

1.         Atone for minor sins

2.       Gain virtue (hasanah) for every hair of the sacrificial animal.

3.       Honorable position in the presence of Allah Ta'ala

4.       Forming sincere personality, patience, qana'ah (gratefulness), compassion and helping each other.

5.       Healing spiritual and social diseases.

Who Should Perform QURBAN?

Those who have surplus property equal to the value of the price of the sacrificial animal over the needs and requirements of the people under their care. On the Feast of Sacrifice and the days of Tasryi'.

WHO IS REQUIRED TO SACRIFICE?

•        Islam

•        Independent

•        Can think and making decision / Puberty

•        Living or traveling

•        Capable

TIME TO PERFORM QURBAN

After finishing the Eid prayer and the recitation of the sermon, the sun rises just like that. Time continues day and night until the final Tasyri' or before sunset on that day.

SAY THE INTENT OF THE SACRIFICE

There is no specific pronunciation for the intention of the sacrifice, and it can simply be intended in the heart.

For example, "I only perform the sacrifice of circumcision, because of Allah Ta'ala."

The intention is different if you vow. Not required to intend.

It is required to intend when slaughtering the sacrificial animal if the slaughter is done by oneself, or if someone is delegated to intend when the slaughterer slaughters the sacrificial animal.

QURBAN LAW FOR OTHER PEOPLE

It is not valid to perform sacrifices for other parties who are still alive without his permission. The situation is the same as the party who has died without a will or order to perform qurban.

If the sacrifice was bequeathed by the deceased, all the parts of the sacrificial animal must be donated.

MATTER OF CIRCUMCISION DURING QURBAN WORSHIP

Starting 1 Zulhijjah until confirmation of the sacrificial livestock being slaughtered, the person making the sacrifice is not encouraged to cut their hair and nails until the performance of the sacrifice.

During slaughtering, the circumcised items are:

1.       Reading Bismillahirrohmanirrahim

2.       Blessings on the Prophet SAW

3.       Facing the animal towards the Qibla on its left side

4.       Takbeer before reading Bismillah and after.

5.       Reciting the prayer: Meaning: "This is a favor from You and I draw closer to You with it."

It is best to do this worship yourself but should be delegated to others.

THE LAW OF QURBAN MEAT

1) The obligatory sacrifice, which is vowed, must be given in charity and the person who sacrifices cannot eat it.

2) Other than that if the person performs a circumcision sacrifice where afdhal he eats a few mouthfuls as a blessing.

3) There is some scholars think that the meat of the sacrifice is divided into three parts, namely 1/3 is given as alms raw, 1/3 of the meat is cooked and made into a feast and 1/3 is eaten by the person making the sacrifice.

4) But it is more afdhal to donate all of them at once except to touch them a little to receive the blessing.

5)  The skin part of the sacrificial animal, on the other hand, is allowed to be given as alms to others or for personal use. Unless it is a votive offering, it is obligatory for him to give charity all at once.
