CHAPTER 6 : HELPING EACH OTHERS

The attitude of helping each other in Islam is highly encouraged, because it is impossible for humans to live alone without help around them. Therefore we should be light-handed.

From Abu Hurairah RA, the Prophet SAW said:

"Whoever relieves a believer of a hardship, surely Allah will relieve him of a hardship on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever makes other people's affairs easy, surely Allah will make it easy in this world and in the hereafter. Whoever covers the shame of a Muslim, surely Allah will cover his shame in this world and in the hereafter. God always helps His servant as long as His servant likes to help his brother. Whoever takes a path in search of knowledge, surely Allah will make it easy for him the path to heaven. When a people gather in one of the mosques to read the Qur'an in turn and learn it, they will surely be covered with sakinah (peace), covered with mercy, and covered by angels, and God will mention their names in front of other creatures on the side His. Whoever is slow in practice,

(Hadith of Muslim History)

"....And help each other in (doing) virtue and piety, and do not help each other in committing sins and transgressions. And fear Allah, verily Allah is severe in punishment".

[Al Ma'idah: 2]

"Allah always helps a servant as long as the servant helps his brother." (HR. Muslim no. 2699)

REFUSING TO HELP IN THE NAME OF GOD ?

Sometimes God sends his creatures who are in trouble to ask for help whether it is in the form of support, material, opinion and so on. But the good answer that is always given is "God is there, don't worry, God will help you, put your trust in God".

True refusal, the person who begs with good words is a kindness. But if we can lend a helping hand that would be better.

Rejecting alms-seekers) with kind words and forgiving (their mistakes) is better than almsgiving (giving) accompanied by (deeds or words that) hurt the heart. And (remember), God is Rich, yet Forgiving.

(Al-Baqarah 2:263)

The attitude of refusing to offer help when we are able to help people in distress, is mentioned by God in His word.

And when it was said to them: "Give some of the sustenance that God has bestowed upon you", the disbelievers said to the believers: "Should we feed a person who if God willed He would surely feed him? You this is just being in manifest error".

(Yaa Siin 36:47)
