CHAPTER 2: GODS HUMAN WORSHIPPED OTHER THAN ALLAH (SYIRIK)

This Ummah (final) in the Quran is told that only a few will be safe in the afterlife, because they associate God in worship. Therefore, let us truly understand the meaning of our Creed or TESTIMONY.

In the Qur'an there are many mentions of gods that people worship besides Allah with:

1) exclamation, prayer, worship, praise,

2) obey, join, prostrate

3) feel that god can bring benefits and harm or intercede.

In general, god is the one we OBEY and the one we FOLLOW or FOLLOW. Let's look at other Gods that people worship consciously (Lost in the light) or Hiddenly (Lost in the Faint). Whoever associates partners with Allah, it is heavy for him. Therefore understand the Lord God who needs to be removed.

TYPES OF GOD WORSHIPED

1) ANOTHER GOD

Say: "Why do you worship other than Allah, something that can neither harm you nor benefit you?" And Allah is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. (Al-Maidah 76)

Say: "CALL ON those whom you consider (as gods) besides Allah, they do not have (power) even an atom's weight in the heavens and the earth, and they do not have a share in (the creation of) the heavens and the earth and never in between those who are his helpers. (Saba 22)

2) LORD EVE

Explain to me about the person who makes HAWA his god. So can you be its guardian? (Al-Furqan 3)

So if they don't answer (your challenge), know that they are actually just FOLLOWING their HAWA. And who is more misguided than the person who follows his EVE without getting the slightest guidance from God. Verily, Allah does not give guidance to the wrongdoers. (Al-Qasas 50)

What is HAWA?

It is a DESIRE in our SELF that wants:

1) Praise.

2) Pride.

3) Authority.

4) Possession (taking possession of what is not his)

5) Greatness.

6) Glory.

7) Satisfaction.

8) Advantages.

In short, according to the desire or worshiping his own lust

3) LORD OF THE PROPHETS

It is not appropriate for a human to whom God gave him Al Kitab, wisdom and prophethood, then he said to humans: "You should be my worshipers and not God's worshipers". But (he said): "You should be rabbinical people, because you always teach Al Kitab and because you keep studying it.

(Ali-Imran 79)

and (it is not appropriate for him) to tell you to make angels and prophets AS GOD. Should he tell you to commit infidelity when you are already Muslim?".

(Ali Imran 80)

For example the followers of Jesus. They finally deified Jesus by considering Jesus as the son of God. Also to Prophet Uzair. Their followers consider Uzair also the son of God.

Another example, Allah is the One God, should the NAME OF GOD, be the same as anyone's name as we see today's calligraphy everywhere.

4) INTERMEDIATE GOD OR GOD'S GUARDIANS

Belief in this is related to Believing these guardians can BRING them as close to God as possible.

So why is it that what they worship other than Allah as God to get closer (to Allah) cannot help them. Even the gods have disappeared from them? That is the result of their lies and what they used to make up. (Al Ahqaf 28)

Remember, pure religion belongs only to Allah. And those who take protection other than Allah (say): "We do not worship them except that they bring us NEAR to Allah as NEAR as THEN". Indeed, Allah will decide between them about what. (Az Zumar 3)

5) THE LORD OF THE WISE

The Jews said: "Uzair is the son of God" and the Christians said: "Al Masih is the son of God". Such was their speech with their mouths, they imitated the words of the earlier disbelievers. God cursed them, how did they turn away?(At Taubah 30)

They made their SCHOLARS and their MONKS as GOD other than Allah and (also they deified) Al Masih son of Maryam, even though they were only told to worship the One God, there is no God (who has the right to be worshiped) but Him. Glorified be Allah from what they associate. (At Taubah 31)

Jews call their Scholars Rabbis. Christians call their Scholars Monks or Priests. They believe the Priest can forgive sins. In Islam, if we obey the pious, it is by following without valid evidence.

6) GOD TO THE INTERCESSOR

This is mentioned many times in the Qur'an. We need to really understand who can intercede and who cannot and who REALLY is the Intercessor.

And they worship besides Allah that which can neither harm them nor benefit them, and they say: "They are our INTERCESSIONS with Allah". Say: "Do you convey to God what He does not know either in the heavens or on earth?" Glorified be Allah and Exalted be He and what they associate (that).

(Jonah 18)

Say: "Only ALLAH BELONGS TO INTERCESSION. To Him belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. Then to Him you will be returned".

(Az Zumar 44)

Who is the intercessor that we always understand?

angels, prophets, guardians of God and also righteous people whom God has given permission. now, understand, all intercession belongs to Allah. know that intercession can only be given by someone who is given permission from him, so the intercession still belongs to him and only from him alone.

Let us not believe that God has an ally in interceding.

7) LORD OF THINGS (IDOLS)

So should you (O polytheists) consider al Lata and al 'Uzza, and Manah the third, the last (as daughters of God)?

(An Najm 19-20)

Idols made in this shape are placed around the Kaaba and polytheists worship them. Originally the statues were made to commemorate the goodness of Lata, 'Uzza and Manan - they are considered guardians (as if they can give benefits and repel harm) and they always help people. Finally they are invoked and worshiped to benefit and reject harm.

In the time of other Prophets there are also:

And they said: "Never leave (the worship of) your gods and never leave the (worship of) wadd, and neither do suwwa', yaghuts, ya'uq and nasr". (Noah 23)

From the above two verses of Allah it is clear that during the time of Prophet Noah, there were people who worshiped Wadd, Suwwa', Yaghuts, Ya'uq and Nasr.

Should you worship Baal and you leave the best of the Creator, (In the time of Prophet Ilyas there was worship called BAAL.) (As Saffat 125)

Ibrahim said: "Do you worship the STATUES that you CARVED? (As Saffat 95)

These people are worshiping statues made from their previous scholars. Another example is the image of songo saints on the walls of people's houses or on the walls of shops. This is the beginning of polytheism with God if we believe that by placing the picture we can get blessings, this is wrong. Only God gives blessings. The benefactor is only God. Only God can harm.

8) LORD OF THE SUN OR MOON

And among the signs of His authority are night, day, sun and moon. Do not BOW TO THE SUN or MOON, but BOW TO God Who created it, If He is the one you want to WORSHIP (TA'BUDUN).

(Fussilat 37)

Obviously, prostrating (yasjadu) to something other than Allah is also the same as worshiping (fa'budun).

9) GOD OF NAMES

You do not worship anything other than Allah except (worship) the NAMES that you and your ancestors made up. God did not reveal any information about those names. The decision is only God's. He has commanded that you worship nothing but Him. That is the straight religion, but most people do not know". (Yusuf 40)

10) GOD OF JINN

The angels replied: "Glory be to You. You are our protector, NOT THEM; even they have WORSHIPED the jinn; most of them believe in the jinn". (Saba 41)

From the verse above, CLEARLY, there are people who worship (follow the instructions) Jinn.

11) DEVIL GOD

Didn't I command you O Bani Adam so that you do not WORSHIP THE DEVIL? Indeed, the devil is a real enemy for you", (Ya Sin 60)

What they worship other than God is nothing but idols, and they are nothing but WORSHIPING the disobedient DEVIL, (An nisa 117)

From the verses above, it is clear that worshiping the devil happens - that is, when people worship idols - statues and ask for a BLESSING from the statue.

12) LORD TAGHUT

Say: "Shall I tell you about those whose retribution is worse than (the wicked) in the sight of Allah, that is, those who are cursed and angered by Allah, among them (there are) who are turned into apes and pigs and ( people who) WORSHIP THAGHUT ('ABADA THAGHUT)?". They are worse off and more lost from the straight path. (Al Maidah 60)

There is no compulsion in religion; Indeed, the right path is clear from the wrong path. Therefore, whoever disbelieves in THAGHUT and believes in Allah, he has indeed held on to a very strong rope that will not break. And Allah is All-Hearing and All-Knowing.

(Al-Baqarah 256)

This is a deduction from all the verses about Thaghut:

1) Thaghut Has Issued Commands And Prohibitions That Are Contrary To Or Different From God - That's Why It Is Called Judging With Thaghut - When There Are Judges, There Are Laws, Laws = Commands And Prohibitions = Shari'at.

2) When It Is Said To Worship Thaghut, These People Follow Shari'at Apart From Allah's Shari'at.

3) People Who Worship Thaghut Call Others Saying They Are Righter Than Believers.

4) Thaghut are Satan's Friends. Satan is a close friend of Thaqut, a friend of reference.

5) Unbelievers are fighting on the Path of Thaghut, Believers are fighting on the Path of God. Worshiping the god thaghut is a great shirk. Because they are at war with the believers.

13) GOD IS COMPARED TO GOD

(call God; BUT also call OTHER THAN GOD, love God; love also OTHER THAN GOD)

Do not invoke (TAD'U) beside (MA'A) Allah, any other god. There is no God (worthy of worship) but Him. Everything must perish, except God. All decisions belong to Him, and only to Him will you be returned. (Al-Qasas 88)

Allah said: "Do not TAKE (TATTAKHIZU) TWO GODS (ILAHAINITHNAIN); verily He is the One God, so fear Me alone". (An Nahl 51)

PUNISHMENTS OVER WHO WORSHIPPED OTHER THAN ALLAH

  1. Shackles and chains were tied around their necks, while they were dragged into boiling hot water and burned in hell.
  2. Do you not see and wonder at those who argue about the meaning of Allah's verses, how they have been turned away (from the truth)? (Ghaafir 40:69)
  3. Those who deny the Qur'an and everything brought by Our Messengers whom We have sent; then they will know later. (Ghaafir 40:70)
  4. Then it was said to them: "Where are the idols you used to worship - (Ghaafir 40:73)
  5. When shackles and chains were tied around their necks, while they were being dragged into the bubbling hot water; then they are burned in the fire of hell; (Ghaafir 40:71-72)
  6. "Allies other than God?" They replied: "Those things have disappeared from us, in fact we never used to associate anything (with Allah)". (Just as God led them astray), so does God lead astray those who disbelieve. (Ghaafir 40:74)
  7. Then there is no belief in their disbelief apart from them answering with a lie: "By Allah our Lord, we have never been those who associate partners with Allah (with something else)". (Al-An'aam 6:23)

HOW TO RETURN BACK
  1. Believe in God truly. All power in the heavens and the earth belongs to God. He gives power to certain people/governments/messengers. Should we worship or pray to the messenger or to God.
  2. For example, praying 1000 times will be blessed with sustenance. Do you worship the messenger to give you sustenance? Praying is not wrong, it is even commanded, but only with a sincere intention on His Majesty the Messenger of God, peace be upon him. When we want something, we ask God for it.
  3. Are the verses of the Quran the same as the hadith or the ijtihad of scholars or human-written books. When arguing, the arguments should be from the verses of the Quran and then supported by explanations from other sources. Al Quran verse is the word of God, suddenly it becomes a book that is thrown behind. Should it? Believe in the truth of God's verses. You will be asked later.
  4. And when there came to them a Messenger from God, who confirmed what was with them, some of those who had been given the Book threw the Book of God behind them, as if they did not know (its truth). (Al-Baqarah 2:101)
