Tawakal (Arabic:tokkul) or tawakkul means to delegate or submit. In the Islamic religion, tawakal means surrendering oneself completely to God in facing a job, or waiting for the consequences of a situation.
As a summary of the definition of tawakkal as follows, "Tawakal is surrendering oneself and being steadfast with good patience to Allah swt when faced with a job, test, difficulty, tyranny accompanied by a calm and peaceful soul. And not rebelling.
Why do we need to have complete faith in God? This is because, God holds the crown of every creature, God is very close and understands the difficulties, abilities and requests of his creatures. He is the Creator who created everything. All the power of heaven and earth is in His hands. Therefore why do we not cling to Him.
When we falter, remember a time in the past when we faced difficulties. The situation is difficult, no one or anything can help. Suddenly God sent His help. Therefore, for what reason now do not trust? Go back to God, the God who created you and let's not give up, while we still have God to pray to.
The Tawakkal of the general public and the Tawakkal of the (special) believers are different and His grace is also different. For example, the public believes that toothache medicine can relieve pain (only temporarily, such is the grace of the world). A (special) believer who has gone through some severe trials that caused him to rely only on God, he believes that God with His power can remove the pain and the blessing of the disappearance of the pain is better.
Tawakkal does not prevent believers from trying. A believer, he does something on the basis of sincerity, there is no other reason. Example If you want to be good at learning and trust. Some people misunderstand, if God wants me to be smart, then God is the one who made me smart. That is not tawakkal, it can be counted as laziness to try, and is just looking for an excuse.
Indeed, the devil has no power over those who believe and put their trust in God, because Believers submit themselves, are pleased with God, and have determined that God is their protector and helper, and they are not easily disappointed because they have a good opinion of their Lord.
Say (O Muhammad): "Nothing will ever befall us except what God has decreed for us. He is the Protector who saves us, and (with that belief) then in God should the believers put their trust." .
(At-Taubah 9:51)
